Ready to go!
I’m getting a cab to Edinburgh airport in about 10 minutes. New York for two weeks! YAY!
Too bad the trip is so short notice (I found out the day before yesterday that I was going) it means I have no shopping money saved up.

I get Martha Stewart “Cookie of the Day” emails in my inbox everyday, and I’d been dying to try these (also these, but where can I find matcha in St A’s?). Have been sick for a while, and since I can’t go out without shivering and feeling like absolute death, I got NYBoy to bring over some ingredients so I could bake at home and keep myself busy.
I only had snowflake shaped cookie cutters (from NYBoy’s mom over Christmas!) so I made them in snowflake shapes rather than circles!
BEFORE BAKING
AFTER BAKING
They tasted sooo good. NYBoy said the cookie tasted like a waffle because it was so maple syrup-y. I wish I had maple extract on hand to use, but St Andrews is a tiny town, so I made do with vanilla extract. I use the best vanilla extract I can find for my baking, it makes a huge difference.
And recovering from a nasty fever and cold thanks to Mondays rain showers!!! We went out for lunch and I was going to go get groceries at Tesco but I am obviously not well yet, the walk to lunch had me shivering and sneezing the entire way!!
My website’s gone nuts. It goes down for a few seconds like a million times a day. I thought it was just my internet that wouldn’t let me into my wordpress log in but now I know other people have been having trouble too!
My host is not being very helpful, so I might switch to another host. I’m on Lunarpages now, I’ve been with them for a few years, anyone know of any better hosts?
(new as in, not Hamish)
She didn’t have a collar, so maybe it was a stray? Anyway we’ve had a problem with kids breaking into our back shed so now whenever we hear noises in the back, NYBoy runs out with a golf club to scare people away haha. Kitty wasn’t scared though, she saw the open door and ran inside where we gave her some of the special cat milk we bought for Hamish, they come individually packed (thank god! because Hamish only had one, and we bought a pack of three!) so they hadn’t gone bad or anything.
I LOVE CATS. I used to shower my cats with so much love, they grew up so spoilt and baby-like. I like that. I like that they know who I am and that cuddles come from ME.
I miss Mikey at home so much.
(he’s not dead, he’s SLEEPING)
If I don’t get back to my Arabic now, there is NO WAY I’ll get it in by the 9.30am deadline, so I better leave this and update later! I went to the New Hall Ball at Kinkell farm last night, so pictures from that soon!
The last week before Easter break is always the hardest. I’m so ready to just chill out and not go to classes, but until then I have an Arabic assignment due tomorrow morning and a Corporate Finance test at 4pm. Hardcore study awaits.
THIS IS MY CLOSET.
I painted those in Brunei, after I finished up my internship at BEDB and had nothing to do all day. I’m no artist but they’re colorful!
THIS IS MY MAKEUP!
I used to keep my makeup in a box, and then a large makeup bag, and then when that got full, I ordered an over-the-door hanging organizer
RED is for face stuff; bronzers, blushers, multiple sticks, concealers, illuminators etc.
ORANGE is for lip stuff; lipsticks, glosses, balms and pencils.
YELLOW is for eye colors; shadows, creams and shade sticks.
GREEN is for eye pencils & mascaras!
BLUE is for random stuff I can’t fit anywhere haha.
PURPLE is for tools; brushes, tweezers & fake lashes.
And on top of all that, I have my MAC bottles and makeup box sets in the closet. My friends love coming over to do makeup because there’s so much of it!
Waffles with raspberries and maple syrup, and rose tea. Yummm.
Just a few I had on my desktop and never got around to uploading!
We get a lot of weird looks, but every couple of months I turn our front porch into a hair salon and NYBoy gets his hair trimmed. It’s not very hard and it doesn’t come out too bad. I try to look professional doing it, so NYBoy doesn’t panic.
Pictures from the DRA ball;
A committee picture from after the Ferragamo talk.
I didn’t have any of my office clothes from last summer with me, thanks to Emirates who decided to change my weight limit on my return flight… how do they get away with giving me a certain weight limit coming out and then change it to a lower weight when I’m checking in for my return flight?! I had to leave a whole bag behind – the bag that had ALL my working clothes. Anyway so the skirt in the picture is one I bought in Singapore years ago for my 19th birthday, it still fits which is reassuring! It means I am no bigger or smaller than I was 3 years ago.
I not only met the CEO of Salvatore Ferragamo, Michele Norsa, and had dinner with him, but I cheekily asked to take a photo with him to prove to my mom I DID meet him! (she loves Ferragamo everything)
I look so nervous, I’ve never met a big name in fashion before. He was surprisingly friendly for such a big shot!
Anyone who knows anything about me knows how badly I want to get into the fashion industry, just being around someone who’s made it to the top of a fashion company made me sooo giddy.
