Matthew gets here TOMORROW.

I’ve known this boy since I was 15, and I still get nervous when he comes and visits, and SO EXCITED!

Tonight I’m going to do laundry, wrap his Christmas presents and study for tomorrow’s killer Russian test.

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

I quit last week, but they gave me shifts for this week – which I took because to be honest I have spent so much on Christmas stuff/my hair that I really need the extra cash!

Then on Saturday we’re going to EDINBURGH! I want to see the giant tree, the reindeer farm, ice skating, ferris wheel, German christmas market and SANTA!!!!!!! And look for a new Christmas dress, because I don’t like the one I bought last week anymore.

I can’t wait for Christmas. My second Christmas in the UK with Matthew!!!!!!

YESTERDAY WAS SUCH A COOL DAY!

Me and Maha being the complete idiots we are, ditched lectures the whole day and went on a huge spree in my favorite city in the whole world – Edinburgh!

The night before that was the Afro-Caribbean Soc pilot event “Caribbean Castaway”; I have been avoiding going out so much this semester because I always have loads of work to do and when I’m not studying I’m doing actual work at my J-O-B. But I took a little time off and went to the party at the aquarium and I’m so glad I did! BJ played such good music (even a little Gimme More…) and I had so much fun.

Went to the weekly Union bop after the aquarium, and then was going to go to an after party but decided against it and went home for an “early” night … not really early because after showering and the mandatory phonecall from Matthew, I got to bed at about 4 in the morning.

Slept right through my 7am alarm – I didn’t even hear it and woke up at quarter to 9, when our initial plan was to leave residences by 9. Not great. We ended up leaving at about 10ish though, so it wasn’t too bad. Got to Edinburgh at roughly midday and went straight to Ocean Terminal.

We were so sleepy, we had to up our energy levels with caffeine before we could get started shopping – and then we went nuts.

Things I liked about my shopping trip in Edinburgh;

• The Charlie Miller at Ocean Terminal sells Redken and Phyto stuff! SO TEMPTED.
• La Senza – I actually got myself properly measured and was told there is no perfect size for me because I am in between two – one is def. too big and the other makes me look like I’m about to pop.
• Got my hair did at the Charlie Miller in Harvey Nichols, by a guy called Cameron and I LOVE it.
• The makeup department at Harvey Nichols; was really hesitant at first but ended up spending a ridiculous amount on Benefit’s color plump fat pencil.
• H&M! I got a dress to wear on Christmas day! All I need now is a red ribbon for my hair.
• I got Matthew the mushiest slushiest Christmas card, but I think it sums us up perfectly.
• Got Matthew another Christmas present – no such thing as spoiling your boyfriend too much.
• I got a Christmas wrapping set from Jenner’s that came with shiny ribbon and little rosettes! Purdy.
• MCDONALDS!!!!!!! Big Mac + Fries + Irn Bru + Festive cheesy dippers.
• The Christmas market – that place was so cute, I saw a musical miniature carousel ornament that I fell in love with, but Matthew said not to buy it for his granny just because I want to play with it
• Seeing the shiny lights and all the fairground rides all lit up.

I didn’t buy that much (spent quite a bit but I think it mostly went on my hair) – but Edinburgh just FEELS Christmassy so just strolling around made my day.

I always get a little quieter when the work starts piling on. But it’s the final stretch!!! I have to consciously tell myself good things about each day or I get stressed out really easily – for the 2nd last week of semester one, they’re piling it on pretty heavy.

The biggest thing on my mind is the 1 hour exam format Russian test we have next Wednesday. I am SO glad it’s on the Wednesday and not the Thursday because my favorite man comes up on Wednesday evening and I never get any study done when I’m excited.

I am SO ready for a break.

And I’m quitting my job. I had to take time off for Christmas, exam period and semester-end vacations and they wouldn’t allow it – so I quit

I am soooooo bored. BORRRRIIINNNGGG.

My day has sucked. BIG TIME.

I woke up at 8, and felt so queasy. Probably has something to do with me eating a baked potato at 11pm the night before and going straight to bed – I don’t usually give in to my food cravings so easily but it’s that time of month and I really wanted a potato! I was supposed to get ready for my Arabic lecture right after that but I felt so sick, so I got Matthew’s permission (why do I still feel I need permission to skip classes?? I don’t know) and went back to bed… and missed my 11am lecture as well.

Woke up at 10.50am and showered etc etc. put on my green lounge pants because I just knew I wasn’t going anywhere today – skipping lectures makes me feel guilty. So I got right down to work and have spent the last 10 or so hours trying to finish an Arabic Assignment that I don’t understand (with an hour’s break for dinner and the season finale of Heroes).

I know I don’t have to work as much as I do, because it would be easy to pass with a lot less work, but I always feel like I have to justify the pricey fees my parents have to pay for me to be here! I love it here so much more than NUS – I feel like I’ve really grown up here.

By growing up I mean getting boring.

I had a convo with Naike over dinner the other night and she was saying how she thinks she’s such a loser for enjoying movie nights in with a tub of ice cream, and how that is more enjoyable than glamming up and going to town for a night out. It was like listening to my thoughts coming out of someone else’s mouth. I do the SAME thing, and I LOVE it!! I’m just a homebody at heart.

My PERFECT night would be a cheesy chick flick, ice cream and diet soda, Matthew, and a duvet wrapped around us. Mmmmm.

I love my uneventful quiet life here, after the disaster that was Singapore, quiet time is exactly what I need.

Best boyfriend in the world.

I want to try it straight away but I can’t because I have a Management Society meeting at 4! And it’s one I HAVE to go to because they’re planning on taking pictures of everyone for the website (which I’m supposed to be in charge of getting online sometime…).

I can’t WAIT to come home and try this stuff though! It comes in little glass vials (yes, glass, how awkward) – and you’re supposed to break the tip of the vial using cloth (or you’ll get shards of glass stuck in your flesh) and then pour it into this tiny spray pump bottle and spray each strand from end to root, and leave on for 30 minutes.

Hair stuff gets me so excited.

I’m saving my muffin for later too, it’s chocolate filled AND chocolate frosted. Mmmmm.
