St Andrews Day!

Filed under: iPhone — Hannah @ 7:41 pm

It’s St Andrews day tomorrow, and I’m doing an 8 hour shift from 10am-6pm running right through our busiest hours; it’s going to be doubly busy because of it’s graduation day for postgrads! I have a feeling it will be one of those days where I fumble because I’m thinking of too many things at once, and don’t have time to finish one thing before having to do something else.

So, I’m treating myself to a nice pre-St Andrews day dinner. Instead of going down to the facilities building for hall food (tonight was curry night…) I’m having Southern Fried Chicken (Tesco made it healthier!) with boiled green beans and Smash. I’ve NEVER used Smash before so I’m excited! It’s just potato flakes that you add water to – but me coming from a household where instant substitutes were frowned upon, I’ve never had it. I’m not even sure they have it in Brunei to be honest.

I never realized how foreign I was until I came here for university, so many things are new and exciting. I LOVE IT!!!!

Hope it tastes good, my tummy is rumbling, I’m so hungry.

My Christmas/New Years wishlist!

Mainly for people who know me in real life but don’t know what I might like (hint: Matthew).

Movies I REALLY want to see!

Filed under: iPhone — Hannah @ 6:31 pm

The Orphanage

I saw the trailer for this after it was posted on ONTD, and I LOVE it. I am such a sucker for horror movies. I like being terrified. I went to see 30 Days of Night with Matthew on his last visit here and it made me sooo paranoid, I have dreams of being eaten by vampires. No idea when this movie’s coming out but I want to see it so badly :(

Enchanted

Because I’m OBSESSED with Disney. Did you know Disneyland do WEDDINGS?!?! I looked it up and found out that you can be brought to Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Cinderella’s beautiful carriage and then have Mickey and Minnie attend the reception! But all my pouting and whining will never be able to offset the hefty price tag attached to a Disney wedding – I think this is the one time in our relationship that Matthew has had to firmly put his foot down.  :(

Bee Movie

Bee’s sueing humans for selling their honey. I have a feeling this movie will make me crave honey. I haven’t had honey smacks in so long.

The Nanny Diaries

I read the book because it was lying around and I really liked it, which is weird for me because I find most books REALLY dull, unless they’re cookbooks. I’m a TV person, so what. Anyway, so I really liked this book and the movie actually showed the weekend I arrived in Loughborough over reading week but only for two days and we missed it! Checked the listings and it said it wouldn’t be on again the next week so either it was a preview (I’m hoping) or it’s come and gone (not so hoping).

WHEN DO ALL THE CHRISTMAS MOVIES COME OUT IN CINEMAS?!?!

I have my Snowman DVD all ready for pre-Christmas fun. That movie brings back such memories – of sitting on the skanky carpet in the video room in Kindy.

In my absence

Filed under: iPhone — Hannah @ 4:24 am

I have been doing a LOT of work. University this year picked up really quickly, so there wasn’t the nice transition from holiday back to business, it was straight in – and me not having done very much over summer apart from a relatively easy internship, I quickly got lost under mountains of work!!!!

Over reading week I managed to catch up a little bit while spending time with Matthew in Loughborough, but as soon as I get back I’m back to being really confused! No joke. Good thing is it’s only a few more weeks until I get a very large chunk of down-time for Christmas.

My Christmas plans!

On the 19th Matthew’s coming up to see me! I don’t get off university until the 21st, and then I have two days to cram as much of my management text into condensed notes as humanly possible because they only have two copies of it in the library and I KNOW if I take it with me someone will recall it and by the time I get back I’ll have accumulated some crazy huge fine.

On the 23rd we’re getting a train down to the town where Matthew’s dad lives, it’s a place called Morecambe bay and I’ve never been there before so I’m a little excited. Apparently a lot of people died there at some point, but me being as ignorant as I am when it comes to news, I’ve never heard anything about the place. On Christmas eve Matthew’s granny is going to come join us! You’d think I’d be really mopey over Christmas not getting to go home and all – but I LOVE Matthew’s family. Last year they made me feel so at home; and because I was the youngest in the house I got to leave things for Santa’s reindeer outside my door.

We’re booked in for a 7-course meal at one of the local hotels on Christmas day as well! I’m so excited! We had to prebook food so I know exactly what I’m getting and it sounds pretty good, even though I can’t remember it now.

After Christmas we’re staying with Matthew’s dad through New Years, on the 2nd of January we’ll be leaving Morecambe for Birmingham where we will hopefully catch the right flight out of the UK and into Spain (my first time!) to see Matthew’s mom.

A little nervous about the mommy meeting, but I’m sure it can’t go too badly?

We’ll be staying in Almeria for a week and then it’s back to St Andrews for some last minute study before my January exams. I’m not too worried about any of my exams this year except for Arabic. Russian confuses me just as much but it isn’t one of my majors so I don’t have to try too hard, I’m dropping it next semester in favor of Information Systems. But Arabic… :(

I have exams from the 14th to the 22nd of January and then it’s back on a train and down to Loughborough to visit Matthew for the three week break we get before the start of second semester. They give us a lot of breaks.

Summary of my Christmas plans:
ST ANDREWS > MORECAMBE > BIRMINGHAM > ALMERIA > BIRMINGHAM > ST ANDREWS

I love traveling with Matthew. I get lots of snacks on long trips.
