Invasion and mouldy pie.

Filed under: iPhone — Hannah @ 10:57 pm

I haven’t updated anyone on my time in Brunei for a while! I put my LJing on hold while I was getting this thing back up and running, and now I think I’ll just stop posting there completely, or cross-post. I don’t get why anyone would need multiple blogs, it takes up so much of my time just keeping up with one.

Anyway, I’ve been working as usual. I have about 5 days left to my internship and they are the hardest 5 days EVER!!!! Knowing that I’m so close to the end makes me fidgety. Don’t get me wrong, I like where I’m interning at (the BEDB) and I like the people I work alongside… but anyone who knows me will know that I’m not a morning person. Something I really need to work on before I graduate and have to go corporate.

I took the afternoon off today though. I’m so burned out, and a lot of my friends are leaving soon so I make an effort to see people – which is a lot for me, I really don’t like Brunei’s social scene, most of my high school friends are gone and Brunei just seems a lot quieter.

Went to see the Invasion today with my cousins – it was a weird movie. I got the message it was trying to convey, but it was still weird. Then we felt a little peckish so we went over to a pretty reputable restaurant in the area. Few things to whine about, firstly I was really excited to finally be eating panna cotta (which I have missed so much!) and they didn’t have any, no hazelnut parfait either. So we settled for apple pie with ice cream, chocolate pudding and a chocolate eclair to share between us. Chocolate eclair went fiiineee. When they brought the apple pie though, something smelt really off. After taking turns sniffing it, we decided it was probably the kiwi slices put on top as a garnish, so I sweeped them off and took my first spoonful of pie… and almost died. I really did want to puke. It was sour, and tasted worse than it smelt. Very grossed out. Made the waiter smell it (heehee) and he took it away and cleared the rest of the pies out of the display case (so I know I wasn’t imagining the smell) and we got a free piece of carrot cake. So all is forgiven.

I’m still pretty shocked they didn’t notice the smell when they were prepping the dish, I mean I smelt it as soon as they set the plate down.

I know you can’t see my face in this shot (blame the afternoon sun) but look at how long my hair has grown! I’m so proud of it.

Our chocolate pudding was so gooey, and warm. I really liked it!
